Nora Roberts è nata a Silver Spring, Maryland, il 10 ottobre 1950 ultima di cinque figli. Dopo il diploma si è sposata e trasferita a Keedysville, Maryland lavorando brevemente come segretaria legale. Dopo la nascita dei suoi figli è rimasta a casa facendo lavori manuali e piccolo artigianato.
Nata in una famiglia di lettori, Nora fin da piccola ha avuto una passione per la lettura e nell’inventare storie. Durante una bufera di neve, tirò fuori matita e taccuino e cominciò a scrivere una di quelle storie. Fu lì che nacque la sua carriera. Diversi manoscritti e rifiuti dopo, il suo primo libro è stato pubblicato da Silhouette nel 1981.
Nora ha incontrato il suo secondo marito, Bruce Wilder, quando lei lo ha assunto per costruire una libreria. Si sposarono nel luglio 1985. Da quel momento, hanno ampliato la loro casa, viaggiato per il mondo e aperto una libreria insieme.
Nel corso degli anni, Nora è sempre stata circondata da uomini. Non solo era la più giovane nella sua famiglia, ma era anche l’unica ragazza. Ha cresciuto due figli. Dopo aver trascorso la sua vita circondata da uomini, Nora Roberts ha una visione abbastanza buona sul funzionamento della mente maschile, che è un piacere costante per i suoi lettori.
Ha scritto oltre 150 romanzi da cui sono stati tratti diversi film per la tv.
